KW: “Yeah, which is too bad. It shouldn’t be rare. Hopefully that will change.”
Do you find it’s getting better?
WM-C: “It seems like it’s happening in television more. With The Big C and Weeds and Nurse Jackie. Those are all very strong female characters. I think it is leaking over into the movie industry. But female screenwriters need to make their voices heard, and push for their stuff. Like these ladies did. You have to be able to work like the boys, and these ladies could.”
KW: “And we have tiny penises.” [laughs]
The movie is a bit messy and way too long. But it’s also grounded in an economic reality that few mainstream comedies dare address.
