Fri., Nov. 4: Filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan meets with the press at the groundbreaking for the Steven Avinger Sr. Child Development Center at 26th and Christian streets in Grays Ferry. Shyamalan donated $1.5 million for construction of the center and rehabilitation of 31 homes for low- and middle-income families in the neighborhood where much of The Sixth Sense was filmed. Mayor Street has committed $1.2 million from the city's Neighborhood Transformation Initiative program for the acquisition of homes and lots in the project zone.
