Sun., June 12: Olufemi Mitchell (center) leads a prayer during offerings of fruit, flowers, honey and coins to Oshun, the Yoruba goddess of the river, on the South Street Bridge overlooking the Schuylkill. A procession precedes the offering, and marks the beginning of the Odunde festival. In its 30th year, the festival celebrates African-American culture. Odunde is a Yoruba word meaning "Happy New Year."
