2) Booing Burt Hooten off the mound and out of the game.

1) 1964, every damned minute of it.

"Puddin' Head" Jones?

How will the 10,000th loss go down?

Fittingly, with Burrell taking a called third strike?

Unjustly, with Howard or Utley or Rollins somehow playing the goat?

Does it matter?

The doom and gloom that will greet the 10,000th loss will come and go.

Can 20,000 be far away?

In the meantime, though, best prepare.

The storyline in every slow-witted newspaper in the country is sure to go something like this:

Losing is a way of life in Philadelphia.

Philadelphians are comfortable with losing because it's all they've ever known.

It's all the losing that's given them such sour and disagreeable attitudes.
