Tis much better to give than to receive—unless of course you’re on the receiving end of something from this list. We’ve got gifts for gals (did someone say she needs a new wallet?); gifts for guys (fedoras are sexy, OK?); and gifts for both (the vibrating sponge for bath time was incredibly intriguing). All of our picks come from small, locally owned stores, which means you’ll be giving back to the community and not some big-box joint. So for those of you still gainfully employed this season (or if you're actually in the 1 percent), here’s a guide to gifts we think are worth your hard-earned cash.

Under $25

Handmade Bowl and Coasters

Handmade from recycled magazines, this bowl and coaster set will no doubt add some visual interest to your dining room or coffee table. Handmade Bowl and Coasters: $19.99 each. Big Green Earth Store, 934 South St. 267.909.8661.

Whiskey Rocks

These flavorless, odor-free soapstone cubes cool down your favorite spirits without diluting their flavor like regular ice does. They also keep your drink cooler, longer. Whiskey Rocks: $20. Art in the Age, 116 N. Third St. 215.922.2600.

Knit Sports Hats

So what if their seasons ended far too early? At least your ears will be warm all winter long. Knit Sports Hats: $19.99-$24.99. Cheesesteaktees, 506 South St. 215.238.5880.

Luggage Tags

A great stocking-stuffer for any gal who does a lot of traveling and doesn’t want her unmentionables to wind up in someone else’s hands. Luggage Tags: $10. Smak Parlor, 219 Market St. 215.625.4551.

Skull Cufflinks

No longer will your guy feel his punk-rock spirit is compromised while he’s suited up. Skull Cufflinks, $25. Art Star, 1030 N. Second St. 215.238.1557.

Wine Bottle Candelabra

Just pop this bad boy into the top of an empty wine bottle, and BAM!—you’ve got yourself a festive piece of decor (and an excuse to finish that bottle.) Wine Bottle Candelabra: $14.99. Hello World, 257 S. 20th St. 215.545.5207.

Vibrating Sponge

Whether you’re looking to soothe aching muscles or get blood flowing to a particular region, this waterproof, ever-so-discreet vibrating sponge will make scrubbing fun. Vibrating Sponge: $16. The Velvet Lily, 1040 N. Second St. 800.238.5459.
