Urban Agriculture
Don't want to travel to the farmstand? Worried about the trip from central Pennsylvania? Weavers Way Co-Op in West Mount Airy has been opening urban farms all over the Philadelphia area and selling the product at local stands, all run in-house. You can visit a farm, buy some tomatoes and be home in time for dinner. And with a new Ogontz Ave. grocery store opening up this month, the local love will be spreading faster than any pathogen.

Grow Your Own
If you're a tin-foil-hat-type, convinced the next wave of food-bourne poison is right at your doorstep, grow your own.

The Department of Agriculture and the FDA have no opinion on the tomatoes you grow yourself. They are some of the easiest plants to grow and the most quickly delivered to your table.

We're heading into the dog days of summer. Those Fourth of July barbecues will be pretty lonely without great tomatoes. Make sure you're getting the best.
