Not fans of the "snap happy" headline.

Regarding Joel Mathis' recent story about YouTube sensation The Skorpion Show.

I just would like to know what your article was about, what insight was it supposed to offer to your viewers or readers for that matter. Depicting two males as “Snap Happy” is totally off based. You looked at the show for all the wrong reason and I bet you watched one video and made an asshole’s opinion of the show. I would encourage you to rethink your article and maybe post something in there to clear this up because clearly you had no idea what the hell you were talking about.

You owe them an apology, but more importantly you need to apologize to homosexuals like myself and my partner for making us seems as if we are hip swinging, finger snapping, tongue lashing queens who do nothing but talk gossip, some of us unlike you know how to show our self to the public. You and your editor should be ashamed of yourself for allowing this bashing article to your public.

I am a subscriber to The Skorpion Show and I am also a gay man. I watch the show every day. There was nothing in the article that was salacious or unrepresentative of the show. The house is cramped and Kevin does live with his mother (who is a star in her own right). Skorpion and Makael are campy and “ghettofabulous” and that is why I watch it. It has been a Destiny’s Child/Beyoncé lovefest, almost every day they have filmed together recently, especially since Michelle, Kelly and Solange have contacted the boys via Twitter. Their debates, on the other hand, are often inane and sometimes painful to watch (especially the show about gay marriage, but hey, I chalk that up to youth).

Instead of taking offense, you should revel in all that makes you unique and remember you have swagger and fierceness just by being you. Mathis hit the nail on the head 1,000 times.

I do understand how some of The Skorpion Show fans felt disappointed. But if I had never seen the show, I would have tuned in just to see if they were as funny as the article says, which they are—as well as thought-provoking.

I appreciate the fact that they are addressing issues that young people need to talk about.

Regarding last week’s cover photo of pregnant man Thomas Beatie:

When I saw the current cover of Philadelphia Weekly I was shocked and furious. Equality Forum, being held here in Philadelphia this week, is serious stuff. The Gay Community is fighting for equal rights, antidiscrimination and the passage of hate crimes legislation. Your choice, which defies all logic, was to have your headline “The Queer Issue” with a picture of the pregnant “man” on the cover. I can’t even tell you in how many different ways this is incredibly offensive.

First and foremost I don’t understand how the pregnant man has anything to do with Equality Forum. At a time when we are fighting for these important rights, do you think a picture representing the millions of gay people in this country struggling just to gain their rights would have been more appropriate? Instead, you took one of the most sensational pictures possible and slammed it on your cover, I can only imagine to circulate more papers.

What it does is pander to those who look at homosexuals as freaks and puts our cause and fight into the realm of absurdity. How incredibly irresponsible of you. I strongly believe that you owe Equality Forum, the City of Philadelphia and especially the Gay Community a huge apology for being so insensitive and sensational. I am so disappointed in your judgement.
