Editor's note, June 2012: The first-person essay from a freelance contributor that previously appeared on this page (and in a 2010 print edition) has been removed from our online archive. An assessment by our new editor in chief, Stephen H. Segal, determined that it did not represent the journalistic standards to which Philadelphia Weekly is committed.
