ReNewable Energy

Regarding Daniel Denvir’s recent article about programs for ex-offenders searching for employment:

Our citizens action group partners with local officials and civic groups in working with many persons entering the re-entry program trying to get a GED, job training, job placement and housing in addition to dealing with addictions and behavior health concerns.

This effort was initially started in assisting victims of crime but quickly worked also in preventing offenders of crime from becoming repeat offenders. Our volunteer efforts address the victims and the offenders in a realistic approach to reducing crime in general throughout our city by dealing with all aspects of crime and why it happens.

Regarding Matt Prigge’s recent Six Pack of films in which actors star with their children:

Your information about On Golden Pond this week contained two errors.

Henry Fonda did not die before the premiere, although he was too ill to attend the Academy Awards ceremonies. The news broadcasts showed Jane giving the Oscar to him at home. Since the awards are not given until the year after they premiere, he was obviously alive at the time—although he did die shortly after the ceremony.

Secondly, he was far from being left-wing; he was right-wing, which was part of the estrangement [with his daughter]. She has so stated often in interviews, as have various writers. Fonda was close friends with early Broadway friend James Stewart, a left-winger, which has also been frequently stated in articles. He was, however, liberal on the matter of equal rights.

“Someone tell Richard Oberholtzer to get his facts correct. According to Marc Eliot, who wrote the most recent bio of James Stewart, Stewart shared the same archconservative views as his friend John Wayne, and trust me, they decidedly were NOT left-wing.
