New Year’s Eve at The Piazza
Over 3,000 people are expected to pile into The Piazza which will be covered by a massive heated tent for its first ever NYE bash. With just one ticket, you’ll get access to five different parties as well as a five-hour open bar and food at each participating bar/restaurant: Gunner’s Run, PYT, Kings Oak and Raw. 3rd Annual Stimulus New Year’s Eve
Last year, Stimulus threw the biggest and most diverse women’s NYE shindig in Philly and this year, they’re doing it again—only way bigger. In addition to drink specials, live go-go dancers and photographers capturing the evening’s wildest moments, you’ll have two different rooms to choose from. West Philadelphia Orchestra’s Balkan Feast & Dance Party
Skip the usual Irish pub scene and welcome the new year with a little European flair. Arrive at 9 p.m. and get first dibs on a traditional Balkan buffet, cooked by WPO members themselves. Starting 10 p.m. and going into the wee-hours, the 12 piece band will be pumping out their raucous Eastern European dance jams. (N.F.) 9pm. $20-$25. That’s A Wrap
Get all sorts of dolled up and head to Philly’s most exclusive lounge for an equally exclusive soiree. While tearing up the dance floor to a mix of house, hip-hop, rock and pop, snack on complimentary hors d’oeuvres and marvel at the 8,000 balloons covering the entire ceiling. Making Time New Year’s Eve HYPER-RAGER
Having thrown the most epic dance parties this city has ever seen for more than a decade now, only Union Transfer could contain the end-of-the-year bash Making Time has in store. Three rooms will house all of the Making Time resident raddlers (a total of more than ten DJs), spinning everything from cocaine sex jams to apocalyptic rock and roll. Occupy Philly New Years Eve Party
Oh yes, that’s right. After being evicted from Tent City, Occupiers are gonna party like the 99 percent. Of course, none of the details is worked out just yet. What can be confirmed is that they’re looking for an available warehouse space—preferably a legal one—and hoping that the Roots will perform. Fingers crossed. (N.F.) 7pm. Free. Dorian’s Parlor New Year’s Eve Spectacular
Come in your most creative vintage, 18th-century inspired attire—ball gown to black tie—and party it up in this bohemian haven. For your entertainment, the Wandering Cellist will create magic with his cello, Professor Elemental from England will share his unique brand of hip-hop and emcee G.D. Falksen will usher in the new year while DJ Dave Ghoul brings the tunes. The night’s perks include a two-hour open bar, full buffet dinner with steak and pasta, door prizes, gift bags, vendors, free portraits and even a free, limited-edition NYE art print. Johnny Showcase’s New Year’s Funk Your Face Party
With their combination of infectious jazz music, cabaret and absurd humor, Philly’s own Johnny Showcase and the Lefty Lucy Cabaret definitely know how to throw a killer bash. Johnny has performed at almost every seedy, underground venue in the city and recently released his debut album of party songs, Love is the Message .
