Pissed Jeans at Union Transfer
Sat., Feb. 8th. utphilly.com
Overall vibe: Philly-via-Allentown heroes Pissed Jeans don't get out on the road too often anymore. Bogged down by full-time jobs and adulthood, they seem eager to explode on stage each time they step onto one. Couple that anticipation with a crowd full of bearded longhair weirdos and West Philly gutter punks. Anyone who wasn't lulled to sleep by Purling Hiss had the room buzzing with energy.
Most memorable moment: The Jeans kicked off their set with "Bathroom Laughter," the opening track from last year's Honeys. Singer Matt Korvette—sporting bleach blonde hair—didn't utter one audible word of the jam, opting for guttural barks and his unhinged stage antics.
Scene stealer: Korvette imploring the house lights be blasted on the crowd while spewing a tounge-in-cheek condemnation of anyone over the age of 30. When the band lurched into "Pleasure Race," some well-timed stage dives and water bottle tosses had UT in a frenzy.
