Dark Horse & the Carousels Somewhere deep within the blustery month of February 2007, Dark Horse & the Carousels emerged. Building upon the histrionic reputation built over two years of previous musical collaborations, Joseph Kusy, Vincent Alvare and Evan Klinefelter began exploring a different realm of glorious noise. After bassist Eliot May and guitarist Duane Lauginiger rounded out the line-up, DHATC began to carve out a niche somewhere between the swagger of the Stones, the dark power of the Stooges, and the fuzzed-out mania of Black Sabbath. All the while, the band members’ attraction to pop hooks served to temper the songs’ rough edges. After a whirlwind year of press acclaim, and shows with Black Lips, Peter Bjorn & John, The Detroit Cobras, The Teenagers, and Shonen Knife, DHATC released their debut self-titled full-length album at Making Time on February 1st, 2008 at Pure Nightclub in Philadelphia. Their hardscrabble rock-and-roll ethic is sure to propel them to greater recognition in their second year of existence. Dark Horse & the Carousels have proven their devotion to spreading their garage rock gospel far and wide, and in 2009, they will settle for nothing less than complete domination.
