Based in Philadelphia, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Christinzio has received widespread acclaim for his one-man-band take on classic pop songwriting. The plaudits given to his 2005 debut, Hide, Run Away, were all the more welcome, considering Christinzio had almost abandoned music when his mental state was at a low ebb. Overcoming the rejection and dejection felt from his earlier attempts to launch a music career, he landed a recording contract with One Little Indian Records and released his home-recorded music virtually unchanged. Hide, Run Away was a charming low-key collection of piano-led indie pop, redolent at times of Brian Wilson's experimental late 60s and early 70s work with the Beach Boys. Cynthia A. Mason added occasional female vocals, most notably on "Blood And Peanut Butter".
Christinzio returned in 2007 with an excellent follow-up, Blink Of A Nihilist, for One Little Indian. Like its predecessor, the sunny pop overtones of the album were offset by lyrics concerning taboo subjects such as mental illness and murder. Stephanie Vernacchio reprised the role played by Mason on the debut album.
