Controlled Storms

Controlled Storms is an experimental indie-rock band from Philadelphia, PA. On stage, Controlled Storms' three members shuffle instruments, moving from the standard drums, bass, and electric guitar to dual basses, acoustic guitar, keyboards, sampler, and the occasional trumpet or balafon. Although some songs have vocals, the band creates moods and tells stories without a voice or particular instrument taking the lead. Controlled Storms songs often conjure up elements of post-rock, progressive, ambient, jazz, and world music, but their members have referred to their elusive style as "Paranormal Blues" or "Weightless Metal." They released a full-length album, "Abandoned Amusement Parks," in 2008 and are embarking on their national "From First Flights" tour in June of 2009.
