What’s the best thing that’s ever happened to you in Philly?

Getting to see Daryl Dawkins shatter the glass.

Who are you most excited to see at PFF?

Chris Smither and Richard Thompson again. But also Taj Mahal.

Dave Quicks Trio

Best thing to ever happen to you in Philly?

Three summers ago, it was my birthday, and I had the opportunity to perform at Rittenhouse Square. The park was filled with people. It was a perfect, muggy, Philly summer night and if we weren’t in the very heart of the city, we were close enough to its lungs to feel it breathing. As we played, the sun went down and the lights of the surrounding buildings filtered through the dark like a dense cluster of stars. I felt connected to the city in a way I never imagined. It was magical.

Most excited to see at the PFF?

Taj Mahal. When he sings, I hear the soul of America.

Erin McKeown

Best thing to ever happen to you in Philly?

I’ve had many great times in Philly, but I don’t think the best has happened yet. I’m waiting for the day I hit a grand slam for the Red Sox at Citizens Bank Park.

Given the rough economic times, could you get by with four and 15 blackbirds?

Man, I think you would miss those five blackbirds. They’re the ones that bring the pie to the party. And the music. I bet they’ll come for free.

Nudie and the Turks

Most excited to see at the PFF?

I want to ask Taj Mahal if Jesse Ed Davis really did play in Conway Twitty’s band.

How did you stalk Willie Nelson without getting slapped with a restraining order?
