Slutever were interviewed in August for our music blog, Make Major Moves. The punk band formed by Philadelphians Nicole Snyder and Rachel Gagliardi were reflecting on their first tour—they encountered a creeper in Baltimore with a human centipede tattoo and scored the Clueless soundtrack on cassette in Olympia. “I think we’re gonna go for it and be a real band,” concluded Snyder. Thank fuckin’ god, because they rock! Snyder bashes her drums with the might of an axe-throwing lumberjack and Gagliardi’s powerchords roar like a runaway buzzsaw. They swap vocal duties—singing about teen moms, tween dreams and the smell of milk—and they’ve got that attitude that made bands like Sleater Kinney and Brat Mobile really rip. They’re also pranksters, like when they recently looked for dates on Twitter: “Any 16-19 yr old skater boys wanna date us? we’ll buy you cheeseburgers and smoke u out.” Tween dream, indeed!
