Sounds Like: The hype behind this debut is pretty annoying, but the NYU-born indie pop duo’s lady singer has got a sick voice and “Go Outside” is damn near perfect.

Free Association: Far enough away from any use of the word “beachy” to be good.

Sounds Like: Toronto-based punk collective’s third may, in fact, be more awesome than their Polaris Prize- winning sophomore. It’s a full-on hardcore punk epic.

Free Association: A more literary version if Black Flag tried to make a Tommy.

For Fans Of: Pissed Jeans, Minor Threat x Ted Leo, totally listenable hardcore punk.

Sounds Like: The Grammy-nominated, incredibly soulful R&B workhorse’s fifth studio album has killer hooks, stunning vocals and surprise gems buried deep within.
