Controlling Your Allegiance

(Astralwerks/Gung Ho)

Sounds Like: To their credit, they’re supposed to put on a killer show, but this trio of Irish white boys make pretty annoying big-beat electro house like it’s the ’90s.

Free Association: They must do a lot more ecstasy over there, or go to legit raves.

For Fans Of: Prodigy x Orbital, Groove Armada, Trainspotting, clubbing until 5 a.m.

The Dear Hunter

The Color Spectrum

(Triple Crown)

Sounds Like: Providence rockers’ fourth is a break from their inane Act cycle, here pairing songs up with colors, and it kinda works on this mediocre proggy space rock LP.

Free Association: Get it through your skulls: We don’t have the attention span for this.

For Fans Of: Deerhunter, Deerhoof, the Dears, Dear Abby.

Candidate Waltz

(Undertow Music)

Sounds Like: Countrified indie rockers from Denton, Texas, who’ve been absent for a spell (so Will Johnson could play with Monsters of Folk) but come back strong here.

Free Association: Careful, that voice gets a lil’ Scott Stappy, but otherwise you’re good.

For Fans Of: Drive-by Truckers x David Bazan, My Morning Jacket, beardo blues.
