Halcyon Digest

Sounds Like: Bradford Cox and Co. astound again with a blissful, low-fi noise-pop gem of a record full of weird sounds, harmonies and dreamy production.

Free Association: Liked that Atlas Sound record, didya? You’re gonna LOVE this one.

For Fans Of: Panda Bear, Beach Boys on acid, Liars, Gang of Four.

The Moondoggies

(Hardly Art)

Sounds Like: Seattle high school besties are still making harmonious, country-flavored saloon rock together inspired by the wild west and Capitol Hill.

Free Association: Hard to believe Washington can produce such downhome twang.

For Fans Of: Fleet Foxes x the Band, Flying Burrito Brothers, sideburns, billiards.

The Extra Lens

(Merge Records)

Sounds Like: John Darnielle (Mountain Goats) and Franklin Bruno (Nothing Painted Blue) first true collab; John sings and strums and Bruno fleshes it out nicely.

Free Association: Hark, Darnielle devotees, run to thine record store with wild abandon.
