It’s going quite well so far. Critics—NPR, Pitchfork, Spin and others—have responded well to Marissa Nadler , and rightfully so: It’s her best goddamn album yet. But the true test will be to see how old fans respond to her artistic evolution, and if new audiences outside the folk underground are willing to hop onboard.
