Self-proclaimed “Pink Floyd for hipsters” and “stoner rock for the working man,” Athens, Ga., instrumentalists Maserati hurl themselves fully into churning, Krautrock-y jams that aren’t afraid to prog out here and there. They contribute four songs to Zombi’s one on a new vinyl-only split on Temporary Residence, stoking a druidic vibe with their titles—“Join Us, Mystic Sister”—and overcast meadow sprawl. These dudes like to share: They’ve done splits with three other bands and have landed on Australian, European and Japanese labels, not to mention the defunct Kindercore. Beyond that, you know a band means business when it throws down for a Vernal Equinox Spring 2009 Tour. (Doug Wallen)
