Critic's Pick: Rod Stewart + Stevie Nicks

While there’s never a dull moment on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the possibilities were endless when Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks appeared together in January. Had the Young Turk scored a new Maggie May? Was the gold dust woman sharing her leather and lace with the blonde god? No, but even better, the two would unite for the most epic double-bill stadium tour ever. While Mick Jagger has always been too anorexic and Robert Plant too deep into Tolkien mythology to actualize the sex-rock ideal, Stewart—with his spiked feathers and loverboy smirk—oozes jouissance. Following his early work with the Jeff Beck Group and Faces, when in 1978 he asked “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?,” it was never intended to be a question. For these dates, the Fleetwood Mac gypsy songstress will open, and then join hot Rod for several smokin’ duets. They better fucking play “Tonight’s the Night.”
