If you’re the type of person who stands still with your arms crossed at shows, the band Catch Wild will definitely get you moving. They bring a beautiful noise, deftly showing their traditional pop-punk roots with a few ear-catching twists. The guitarwork, centered around loud power chords with intricate riffs sprinkled throughout, gets a lift from singer and rhythm guitarist Jessica Rose’s Hayley Williams-esque vocals, which give the band a unique tone. The New Jersey-based outfit recorded their first album over a span of two weeks, courtesy of a $5,000 Kickstarter campaign in 2009, and then went on to win VH1’s Break ’N Through undiscovered talent competition. Check out their newest CD, Waking Up With Fire, before you see them so you can sing along. You’ll be glad you did. (Fiona Lockyer)
