Hot Hands perform this week at Level Room.
I dunno its origins, but the quote that opens Orlando, Fla., garage-rock duo Hot Hands’ Everything We Have Is Broken (2010) is strange. “I woke up, saw there was a bunch of smoke,” says a young dude with a Southern accent, “and basically just threw my girlfriend out the window and got outta there.” It makes sense, though, because the tunes that follow sound like music made from the heart of a house ablaze. Their best cut, “Your Short Hair,” might be about a bad haircut, but it’s hard to tell ’cause it’s smothered in Jeffrey Howard’s powerhouse-static riffs and Kristin Howard’s belligerent drum bashing.
Sat., April 14, 9pm. $6. With Exploding World + Why the Wires. Level Room, 2102 Market St. phonographicartssouthphilly.tumblr.com

“Thanks for the nice write up. We actually played in Philadelphia at Liberty Fest on the previous Saturday and weren't able to be at this particular show. Sorry if anyone came to see us. We'll be back soon.”
