Nicetown Community Development Corporation prides itself on "putting the 'nice' back in the town," and they did just that at their Seventh Annual "Give Back to the Community Festival." The neighborhood came out to enjoy food, fun, vendors and lots of local entertainers including: rapper Shorty Raw, spoken word artist Mrs. Betty's Son and soulful duet, Royal Black. An award of appreciation was presented to former Philadelphia Police Commissioner Sylvester Johnson, while people also took part in a Walk for Peace lead around Nicetown encouraging residents to put an end to the crime that plagues their streets. Philadelphia native and five-time Grammy nominated vocal powerhouse Jazmine Sullivan brought home the message of giving back and promoting peace with a free performance for an audience that stood in the rain in anticipation to hear the R&B songstress belt out hits like "Lions Tigers and Bears" and "Need You Bad."
