Trader Joe's carries bargain-sized jars of Morello cherries, perfect for this recipe. Otherwise use Maraschino or fresh, if in season.

>> Cherries

>> Liquor or liqueur of your choice (whiskey, rum, bourbon, Grand Marnier, amaretto, Drambuie)

>> 1) If packed in syrup, drain and rinse cherries.

>> 2) Place cherries in a large glass jar with a tight-fitting lid. Cover cherries with alcohol. Refrigerate and let soak at least 24 hours, or until desired strength is reached. Remove cherries and serve with Manhattans or atop ice cream. Or integrate into cookies, cakes or compotes.
