Holiday Food Events.

As a Rittenhouse-area resident, I'm looking forward to the early-2009 opening of Noble American Cookery at 2025 Sansom St. Noble is the third restaurant venture from surfer foodie Bruno Pouget (Caribou, Blue). The menu from chef Steven Cameron promises seasonal American fare that incorporates local produce, environmentally sound meat and fish, and fresh herbs from the restaurant's rooftop garden. Noble joins a celebrated culinary quarter that includes Tria, Melograno and Tinto.

Tinto is offering a $25 Basque-inspired Sunday brunch where diners choose three courses plus a side dish. I highly recommend the revuelto de hongos, shirred eggs with mushrooms, goat cheese and truffle butter, and the Bloody Mary of my dreams: a savory blend of celery, vodka, spiced tomato consomm� and chorizo.

Seasonal events come to the Iron Hill Brewery next month. Kicking off the holidays, the brewery releases its bottled lambic-style beers. Tastings and sales of the fruity, oak barrel-aged beers will be at the Wilmington and Media locations on Dec. 6 and 13. Throughout December you can go for the beer and stay for the holiday happiness when Iron Hill presents Christmas parades, tree lightings and holiday music at all seven locations.

For more holiday beer fun, meet Philly's Joe Sixpack, aka Don Russell, at the Winter Warmers Tasting on Dec. 27 at the Armory. Russell will raise a pint to the release of his latest beer book, Christmas Beer: The Cheeriest, Tastiest and Most Unusual Holiday Brews. The book is an entertaining history of holiday beer and includes winter solstice beer rites, a list of 50 best Christmas beers and funny stories about why beer and Santa don't mix. Festive food and beer will be served and copies of the book will be available for purchase.

If your holiday shopping list includes foodies and party hosts, explore Philly's culinary and home goods stores. Within city limits you can pick up unique gifts and practical kitchenware from Fante's, Foster's Homeware, Kitchenette, P.H.A.G., Kitchen Kapers, Williams-Sonoma and Reading Terminal Market.

If you want to park, shop and dine all in one place, head to Manayunk for Classic Holiday on Main. From Nov. 28 through Dec. 24, Manayunk merchants will offer shopping and dining specials, live holiday music and free parking until 3 p.m. in Main Street lots.
