Seores y seoritas, atencin, por favor! Sept. 15 marked the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month. It's the perfect excuse to get off your culo and celebrate with some of the most delicious tacos in the city.

If You Have Faith

A shrine to the Virgen de Guadalupe watches over you at Taquera Acapulco (1144 S. Ninth St.) as you munch on heavenly offerings of tacos dorados de cameron (shrimp rolled in corn tortilla cigars and deep fried for a communion-wafer effect) that had us rapturously enjoying the dish topped with lettuce, tomato, onion and queso fresco. Skip mass and go to lunch here. You can eat and repent at the same time. $ 2 V Q

If You're a Lover Not a Fighter

The obnoxious, pasty-faced Bobby Flay is licking his wounds from an ass-beating at the hands of our own Jose Garces on Iron Chef America. To celebrate, Jose triumphantly opened Distrito (3945 Chestnut St. 215.222.1657) where his cachetes de ternera, veal cheek tacos with salsa roja and salsa verde, reign supreme alongside Dock Street Brewery's lime kolsch brewed exclusively for this modern Mexican restaurant. 2 Q

If You Have Goatmares

As a youth we at Field Guide were terrorized by charging goats at what was meant to be a wholesome family outing to a petting zoo. We happily enacted our revenge at La Lupe (1201 S. Ninth St. 215.551.9920) where we dined on succulent tacos barbacoa made from oven-roasted goat meat on house-pressed tortillas. Revenge is a dish best served delicious! $ 2 A V Q

If You're Rollin' With Your Homie

The tailgate of your buddy's pickup truck doubles as the dining area at Los Jalapeos (1800 S. Fourth St. 215.468.1828) because inside lies a fully stocked bodega instead of tables and chairs. Their cocina is kickin' out al pastor tacos made with pork and pineapple just like your abuelita used to make. Added bonus: They deliver, so even in winter you can get this Mexican comfort food without freezing your tetas off. $ 2 V Q If You Feel the Burn

At Taquera la Veracruzana (908 Washington Ave. 215.465.1440) three double corn tortilla stacked tacos de campechanos burst at the seams with bistec and chorizo. Garnished with diced onion, chopped cilantro and limes, the tacos cost just $6. Pour on some complimentary salsa rojo y verde. $ 2 A V Q

If You're Near the Golden Block

Just south of Philly's Centro de Oro is Taco Riendo (1301 N. Fifth St. 215.235.2294), where they serve up plate-licking, tender tongue tacos on house-made tortillas. If you can't stomach the idea of eating something that can taste you back, try their fish tacos made with tilapia filets, rice and cilantro. It's the best fish dish north of Girard. 2 V Q
