The latest dish: 240sweet Artisan Marshmallows.

Description: With all apologies to vegan treatmakers Sweet and Sara, whose yummy wares are well-stocked in local Whole Foods markets and other discriminating fooderies, the ladies at 240sweet are slaying the competition with their mind-blowing array of delicious vegan marshmallows. Of their 154 (!) varieties, a mix of both savory and sweet puffs, we’ve only sampled three: the faintly floral Blackberry Merlot, Best Boy Balsamic Fudge and Salty Caramel Swirl, their most popular, which, atop even the most pedestrian packet cocoa, is every bit as divinely decadent as you’d imagine. Chef Alexa Lemley uses organic ingredients, natural flavorings and nary an artificial color or preservative in her hand-crafted marshmallows, which really must be experienced to be believed. Catch her at the Sugarloaf Crafts Festival at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center on March 15-17. And resist the urge to hold her down ‘til she gives you the recipe for that Best Boy Balsamic Fudge thingy. Seriously.

“While I'm sure they are delicious, none of 240Sweet's marshmallows are vegan (or even vegetarian for that matter!).”
