Walk the Moon

Media Title

A potent combination of indie rock and swirling synth-pop goodness, Walk the Moon’s albums contain some of today’s most energetic and upbeat music. The callout vocals and driving, jangly guitar riffs on “Tightrope” call to mind Chris Martin and Two Door Cinema Club, respectively, while the beats from the Killers’ “Somebody Told Me” appear to have been the inspiration for “Jenny.” Lead singer Nicholas Petricca and the band infuse their tracks with all the energy of college kids at an all-night party. “Fixin’” is hip-swinging dance rock at its best, while the echoing, shoegazey interlude “Lions” and the almost maudlin delivery of the vocals on “Iscariot” show the band’s variety and range. Their cover of the Talking Heads’ “Burning Down the House” on their new Tightrope EP is a surprisingly raucous affair. Walk the Moon will give you a great time in no time. Count on it. —Brian Palmer
