Passport to World Cinema

Media Title

Presented by the Philadelphia Film Society and the University of the Arts, Passport to World Cinema is a cheap and accessible way to experience some of today’s finest foreign films. Now in its second year, screenings occur monthly and include not only a notable title from the recent film festival circuit, but a post-screening discussion to encourage film education. This edition brings you 4Some, formerly known as The Holy Quarternity, a racy sexual comedy from the Czech Republic’s own Jan Hrebejk. Part of the 2012 Toronto Film Festival, this film follows two middle-aged couples, life-long friends, who seem to have everything in common: children of the same age, work colleague husbands, and yes, even a shared house in their small town. This isn’t enough for them, though. Despite each loving their own wives deeply, both men harbor a longing for the other’s respective spouse. Who would’ve seen that one coming? They manage to control the urges, not acting on their desires right away, but eventually find themselves on an erotic wife-swapping vacation on an almost deserted Caribbean island. Hilarity ensues as the two couples use this experience to rekindle the passion in their lives. —Anthony Trivelli
