Along with Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Justin Guarini, Miranda Lambert found fame via a reality TV singing competition. Since competing in Nashville Star in 2003, Lambert has gone on to release four albums, the most recent being 2011’s Four the Record. Lambert’s always been on the brash and brassy side, from the catchy “Kerosene” on her 2005 debut album to 2007’s defiant and cheeky “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” which unnerved men across the country. Her recent albums, however, have seen her mellow slightly, and Four the Record showcases warm and meandering whiskey-drinking songs sung with wit and a wry wink, and a few lo-fi country tunes, like a sassy, gun-toting Neko Case. -Katherine Silkaitis
