Edible Book Party

A sudden urge to make a batch of cookies or bake the perfect cake could come in handy if you’re also a book worm. The Kelly Writers House hosts its second Edible Book Party where every piece of artwork displayed can be devoured—by your mouth, not your mind. Whether a character or scene inspired you, a play on words with a book title popped into your head (the 2011 party had “A Moveable Feast” and “Jane Pear” among entries) or you just want to recreate the cover of a book out of candy and baked goods, your skills in the kitchen will be appreciated. Bake on your own or with a team; all entries are accepted. No need to sign up ahead of time—a last-minute inspiration will do just fine. —Brenda Hillegas
