Design + Build Workshop

Media Title

Frank’s Kitchens opens its doors to teach seasoned engineers and newbies alike how to construct a kinetic sculpture for the Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby—the kick-ass event held annually as part of the Trenton Avenue Arts Festival. You’ll meet fellow derby participants and have a chance to explore the ins and outs of derby creation. What is a kinetic sculpture, you ask? By definition it’s simply a human-powered sculpture—kind of like a parade float—that’s only limited by your own whacked-out imagination. Last year’s derby included a giant caterpillar, a bright pink flamingo, flying slices of pizza and an Amish-inspired buggy. No prior knowledge or skills are needed for the workshop—simply a desire to learn, create, imagine and build. (Cristina Perachio)
