In the 1950s, parents were pressured to institutionalize their children with disabilities. Those who kept their children at home often experienced isolation. But a generation of parents, particularly mothers, demanded more for their children and for themselves. A Fierce Kind of Love tells the story of these accidental warriors, thier children, and the generations who followed them.
