Melissa Klapper will talk about the role of impassioned, activist Jewish women in the early days of American feminism, from 1890 to the beginning of World War II, when feminists’ focus was on suffrage, birth control and peace. Dr. Klapper is a Professor of History at Rowan University is the author of three books about women's history and the immigrant experience. Her recent Ballots, Babies, and Banners of Peace, was been awarded the 2013 National Jewish Book Award in Women's Studies.
