Former U.S. Secretary of Defense and 2011 Liberty Medal recipient Robert M. Gates returns to the National Constitution Center to unveil his latest book, Duty: Memoirs of a Secretary at War—a strikingly candid account of his experience serving as secretary of state. The former head of the Pentagon will discuss how he juggled multiple wars abroad and political realities at home. He will also focus on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” and the capture and kill of Bin Laden.
