Acting for Change: Human Rights and the Egyptian Revolution

Lawyer-Activist Ragia Omran, who receives the 30th annual RFK Human Rights Award in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 21, will be giving a public talk entitled “Acting for Change: Human Rights and the Egyptian Revolution.” Omran has been at the forefront of the human rights movement in Egypt for 20 years. In 1994, she was a member of the FGM Task Force, which led a campaign that successfully outlawed the practice of female genital mutilation in public hospitals.
