How We Got Here: A History of Philadelphia's Transportation Networks

Media Title

Art Hallway Gallery and West Hallway Gallery, 2nd Floor September 30 - October 31, 2013 Whether you are walking in your neighborhood, riding the Market Frankford Elevated line, driving along the Boulevard or flying from PHL, you know that Philadelphia has good "bones": a transportation network that gets you where you need to go. In celebration of the Mayor's Office of Transportation and Utilities (MOTU) fifth anniversary, the Free Library of Philadelphia has partnered with MOTU to showcase a select history of Philadelphia's transportation networks. Visit the Free Library of Philadelphia's Central Branch, or visit MOTU online to see these snapshots of Philadelphia's transportation and utilities history to learn more about hot air balloon races, the Broad Street Station fire and see the faces of the men who built the El and the machines they used.
