Tapestry of African American Art: A Conversation with Leroy Johnson

Leroy Johnson, one of the artists who participated in the recent public artworks project commissioned for the Philadelphia Juvenile Justice Services Center (PJJSC) at 48th Street and Haverford Avenue, will provide a PowerPoint presentation of African American artists who have inspired him. He will discuss their influence on and relevance to contemporary art as well as their connection to the history of making art. Additional materials will be provided, including books, videos and a bibliography. This project is made possible through the support of the Friends of the Print and Picture Collection and the Robert F. Looney Fund.
