"Unearthing a Masterpiece: A Roman Mosaic from Lod, Israel"

Media Title

Penn Museum in Philadelphia is the final stop on a major US tour for a large and extraordinary ancient Roman mosaic only recently discovered and excavated in Israel. Unearthing a Masterpiece: A Roman Mosaic from Lod, Israel is on view at the Penn Museum February 10 through May 19—before it travels to the Louvre in Paris and back to Israel. Discovered in 1996 and excavated in 2009, the Lod Mosaic floor is believed to come from the home of a wealthy Roman who lived in Lod about 1,700 years ago.
