Boris Lurie: "NO!"
Lurie abhorred and eschewed the art world of his day, and it paid him in kind with its utter disregard. Until the late nineties, NO!art had effectively been suppressed from official art history, and, by his choice, almost all of Lurie’s work remained in his possession at the time of his death. The present exhibition, therefore, constitutes a small-scale, but comprehensive, retrospective and an important step in the reappraisal of the American avant-garde of the Cold War period.
