Mark Boyce/ St. James and the Apostles
Gunners Run welcomes Mark Boyce for a FREE 21+ show, Thursday Oct 4th at 9pm. Proper ID required. Mark Boyce is a pianist. A superb pianist! He plays every keyboard instrument imaginable, from a good old piano forte to a specially modified Hammond organ; every musical style - from Chopin's preludes to a hip hop. He travelled the world with bands like The Goats, The Delta 72 and Boss Hog, delivering a dose of soul and funk to the stages of a good half a dozen of continents. St James and the Apostles: Bio "A slightly different spin on the "Power Trio" formula. Influenced more by The Doors sound than by the standard Cream archetype, add a bit of punk, grunge and a touch of Osmonds/Cowsills-esque familial strangeness; the sound of this group could be best summed up as Holy Acid Rock.Formed out of the ashes of The Three 4 Tens, titular guitarist Jamie Mahon is best known for being the bassist and founding member of that group, and just as well known for stints in Marah, The Asteroid #4, Mondo Topless, and others. Organist/keybassist/first cousin Mike Kiker sat in with Three 4 Tens at the end of their tenure, and drummer/second cousin Jeff Castner played with various groups around the Asbury Park, NJ area."
