We love beer. That's why we're devoting an entire year to discovering (and drinking) cold ones from near and far. Know of a beer worth shouting out? Send us a note.
New Jersey’s River Horse Brewing Co. has created a light, effervescent, sparkling ale that screams “summer.” Some beer geeks will scoff at the simplicity of this beer, but it’s that very simplicity that makes it a perfect brew for a blazing hot day. A golden blonde ale with more hop bitterness than an adjunct lager but less than traditional golden ales, everything about Summer Blonde is subdued: the straw-like character is barely there, the spice typical with this style is all but erased, and the yeasty must of the aroma is only a faint daydream. Unimpressive if you crave complexity, but a thirst-quencher that is a step up from your usual lawnmower beer. River Horse Summer Blonde is sometimes available at Fingers Wings & Other Things and Redwood.
