We love beer. That's why we're devoting an entire year to discovering (and drinking) cold ones from near and far. Know of a beer worth shouting out? Send us a note.

Hard to believe the Bruery is only 5 years old. Out of California, these makers of experimental beers have quickly established a reputation for being some of the best brewers in the country. They make gigantic, challenging beers that run the gamut from imposing imperial stouts to complex sour beers. If you’re lucky — and if you like humongous beers — then Bois, their 5-year-anniversary ale, is for you. This is an old ale (similar to a barleywine) aged in bourbon barrels, only it’s far bigger than your usual old ale (it clocks in at 15.5 percent) and is blended from the four previous anniversary beers. So, yeah: This is one complex, intense (in both barrel flavor and aroma) and mighty forward beer. Can you handle this? You can’t handle this. Bois is not yet on tap in Philly … but will be soon. Look for it.

“It was on tap at Barcade during their Bruery Philly beer week event.”
