We love beer. That's why we're devoting an entire year to discovering (and drinking) cold ones from near and far. Know of a beer worth shouting out? Send us a note at

For the last few days we’ve been taking a peek at the biggest buzz in craft beer right now, Sierra Nevada’s Beer Campcollaboration with 12 other breweries. The makers of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale helped introduce America to hops, so pairing them up with the makers of hefty IPAs like Sculpin is a natural collaboration. This beer probably isn’t what you expect from either, though. It’s an imperial pale lager, which is to say it’s a big, high-alcohol lager hopped up like an IPA. Grainy bitterness in the aroma leads to the same in the initial sip; it’s piney and resinous and a little herbal. Toffee sweetness offsets it, with hints of baked bread in the background, but sharp bitterness makes a final appearance in the finish. This one-time only beer can be sampled at Victory Beer Hall and London Grill.
