We love beer. That's why we're devoting an entire year to discovering (and drinking) cold ones from near and far. Know of a beer worth shouting out? Send us a note at firstname.lastname@example.org.
There are those breweries that blow your mind with flavors you never dreamed possible, and then there are those breweries that simply deliver rock solid beers every year. Upstate New York’s Saranac falls in the latter category. Saranac Pumpkin Ale is a beer worth drinking. This beer is the sort of pumpkin beer you drink when you want a hint of the season without getting overwhelmed: Medium bodied and slightly creamy, hints of vanilla and light toffee precede a mild sprinkling of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. The faintly vegetal taste of pumpkin is there in the mix, too, but like all else, it’s subdued. This beer isn’t looking to challenge you, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need. It’s currently on draft at Bobkat Liquors and McGillin’s.
