We love beer. That's why we're devoting an entire year to discovering (and drinking) cold ones from near and far. Know of a beer worth shouting out? Send us a note at tips@philadelphiaweekly.com.

Upstate New York’s Ommegang has been one of the country’s premier brewers of Belgian-style beers for a few years now, but it still seemed like an unusual choice when they got the license to brew Game of Thrones-branded beer. Regardless, this line has proven wildly popular. This is the third so far, and like the previous two the name is a hint at the style. Fire & Blood is a red ale brewed with Ancho chilies. Don’t expect a beer with heat, though. Funky Belgian yeast is the initial star of the show—it’s musky and murky and Earthy—with spiced rye, pepper and caramel following. There is some chili spice here, but you have to fight your way through lively carbonation to find it. This is going to be a beer best served with a meal, so do so at Local 44, Flanigan’s Boathouse and Fingers Wings And Other Things.
