We love beer. That's why we're devoting an entire year to discovering (and drinking) cold ones from near and far. Know of a beer worth shouting out? Send us a note at tips@philadelphiaweekly.com.

Hailing from Rapid Springs, Michigan, the folks at Founders have over the last 17 years become one of the premier craft brewers in the county, available in 32 states (and counting) and garnering nearly universal praise.  While their core lineup is full of delights like All-Day IPA and Centennial IPA, it is their Backstage Series of experimental one-off brews where the mind-blowing fun is had. Sweet Repute is the 8th in this series, and it’s an unusual one: a wheat wine. Wheat wines are high-impact wheat ales that boast big alcohol and intense flavor. Sweet Repute takes things a step further by being aged in bourbon and maple syrup barrels for 18 months. The result is an intense experience characterized by sweet maple, hot honey, brown sugar, touches of vanilla and hazelnut, and plenty of alcohol burn. Not for the faint of heart! Watch for it to be featured at Philly Beer Week events at South Philly Tap Room and POPE.
