We love beer. That's why we're devoting an entire year to discovering (and drinking) cold ones from near and far. Know of a beer worth shouting out? Send us a note at email@example.com.
Admittedly, hot days in the city don’t exactly engender cravings for rich creamy stouts, but it’s easy to make exceptions for a good oatmeal stout. Oatmeal stouts really are brewed with oats, which lend them a soft creaminess that allows them to drink like milk chocolate. Consider them the ice cream of beer—and if you’re going for something you’ll enjoy, it’s hard to go wrong with Founders. These guys make wonderfully drinkable beers like All Day IPA, after all, and this one is no exception to the “wonderfully drinkable” rule with Founders. Their take on the style has light roast and bitter chocolate flavors, with a soft coffee bite and a creamy smoothness that is like candy in a glass. It’s one of the better examples of the style, currently available on draft only. See what we mean at The Gaslight, Khyber Pass and McCrossen’s.
